On Thursday the Hoxie Fire Department was called to Lawrence 748 after the Lawrence County Dispatch received a report of a large field fire. According to Asst. Chief Will Tate of the Hoxie Fire Department the call went out at 4:08 pm and Hoxie was on scene by 4:20 pm. Departments included Hoxie Fire, Alicia Fire, Bono Fire, Cash Fire, Arkansas Forestry and assistance from Craighead County.

According to Tate the origin of the fire was unknown but winds drove the fire into an uncut grass field used for agricultural fuel, the Arkansas Forestry cut a fire break, Hoxie Fire then set up crews in staging areas protecting structures including 2 homes and a television tower in the area.

According to the Asst. Chief there were no injuries reporting in the blaze and no structure loss. Crews were on scene until 8 pm before the blaze was extinguished. Photos courtesy of Will Tate/Hoxie Fire Department.
