At 8:59 pm on Tuesday the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting two semi trucks involved in a wreck at Hwy 63 and Hwy 63-B near Southpoint. The caller advised the highway was completely blocked and debris was covering the highway.

Walnut Ridge Fire Department, Hoxie Fire Department, Walnut Ridge Police, Hoxie Police, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies, Lawrence County Office Of Emergency Services, Medic One Ambulance and AET Ambulance were all notified of the accident.

Once arriving on scene responders found that both drivers were not injured, One truck carrying frozen poultry had pulled into the path of another carrying steel. The trailer carrying the poultry was nearly torn in half. The Health Department was notified of the frozen food involved and responded to the scene. Wrecker’s from Ray J’s Wrecker Service of Hoxie and Cook’s Wrecker Service of Walnut Ridge responded to assist with removing the vehicles.

Arkansas Highway Department was requested with loads of sand to spread on the highway, a small fuel leak was cleaned and removed. Shortly after 11:30 pm Hwy 63 was reopened, crews remained on scene to complete the cleanup.
