At 6:02 pm on Thursday the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a semi truck that had struck several electric poles and had wire across the truck. Hoxie Fire Department was paged to respond to the scene along with the Hoxie Fire Department.

Hoxie Chief Chris Ditto stated that when the Hoxie Fire Department arrived on scene the truck still had wires draped across the vehicle that still had voltage placing the driver in danger if he attempted to exit the truck. Hoxie firemen instructed the driver to stay inside the vehicle, Craighead Electric was notified and responded to the scene.

Two transformers fell from a pole and were leaking oil on to the street, Lawrence County Emergency Services were notified and responded to the accident. Firefighters blocked off the side street located just of Hwy 63-B until Craighead Electric arrived to cut the power supply to the wires. Once on scene, workers from the electric company disconnected all power to the area. The driver of the truck was removed from the truck and uninjured. One residence and several commercial building received damage from the incident, one resident was displaced until his home could be repaired.

Crews from Craighead Electric worked to remove the electrical pole from the semi truck, power was interrupted to about 100 residents. Craighead Electric contained and removed the oil spill from the area. The accident was investigated by the Hoxie Police Department. Hoxie Fire was on scene until the truck was cleared of electrical wires, debris and removed from the scene.
