On Thursday evening at 5:59 pm the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a structure fire on Old Smithville Road in Lynn. The Lynn Volunteer Fire Department was paged to the fire. Firefighters arrived on scene in minutes and quickly requested the assistance of the Strawberry Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighters not only had to battle the structure that was on fire but also protect two other structures that were in danger. The fire was quickly under control but the house sustained major damage.
Several witnesses came forward and stated that a white Hyundai SUV was seen at the house just moments before the fire was discovered, the witnesses described two white females in the vehicle. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigators were called to the scene. Investigators quickly developed a suspect. Investigators are requesting the assistance of the Arkansas State Police Arson Investigators.
Lynn and Strawberry were on scene until the fire was extinguished and Craighead Electric removed power from the structure. It needs to be noted that the property was vacant at the time of the fire. One firefighter received minor injuries during the incident. AET Ambulance was on scene for standby.
