At 11:57pm on Tuesday Night the Hoxie Fire Department was paged to a storage building fire located at 404 NW Randolph Street. Firefighters responded with several trucks and arrived to find a storage building, atv and utility pole fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze but the building and contents were a complete loss. According to Hoxie Fire Chief Chris Ditto the circumstances are suspicious. The home owner stated he heard a loud explosion type noise and saw the back of the building in flames. Medic One Ambulance, Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Hoxie Police also responded to the fire. The building contained tools and approximately 25 gallons of latex paint.
Hoxie Police are conducting the investigation into the fire. There were no injuries reported in the fire. Utilities were restored shortly after the fire was extinguished.
