Hwy 91, 2 miles from Hwy 230 was closed from 7 am till 8:45 this morning after the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a head on accident. Arkansas State Police, Walnut Ridge Fire Department, Sedgwick Fire Department, Hoxie Fire Department, AET Ambulance, Medic One Ambulance, Lawrence County OES and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office were all notified. Reports from the scene stated one vehicle was on fire.
Fire and EMS arrived to find one victim dead and one trapped with injuries, a medical helicopter was sent to the scene. The injured individual was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Authorities were forced to close the road for removal of debris and accident investigation.
Names of the injured or deceased have not been released at this time pending notification and conclusion of the investigation. At 8:45 am the roadway was reopened and all fire crews were clear from the scene.
