Lawrence County Library Summer Reading Program children were entertained this week by the music of “The Highlander” Mike Mcleod. Mr. Mcleod is a part of the Arkansas Artists on Tour. He’s been making music for over 50 years and has been an educator for the past 45 years.
The Highlander performance included such classic folk songs as Arkansas Traveler, Jimmy Crack Corn, Cotton eyed Joe, and a host of other tunes on Monday, July 6th at both the Driftwood Library at Lynn and the Bobbie Jean Memorial in Imboden. On Tuesday, July 7th Mr. Mcleod entertained a large crowd at the Walnut Ridge Lawrence County Library. Over 100 people attended the event and the children really got into the program by dancing and acting parts to the songs.
The Highlander said “I really enjoyed playing at all three venues, the kids were a great audience and I hope to come back again next year.”
