On Sunday shortly after 6 pm the Lawrence County Dispatch received a call reporting that a male had been struck by a vehicle on Hwy 25 between Lake Charles State Park and Lake Charles Suites. Black Rock Fire Department, Medic One Ambulance and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were all dispatched to the scene.
A helicopter from Survival Flight was summoned to the scene, Black Rock Firefighters and medics attended to the injured victim. At 6:20 Rangers from Lake Charles State Park closed the overlook in anticipation of the medical helicopter landing. At 6:39 pm the helicopter landed at the landing zone. The accident is being investigated by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas State Police. The driver of the vehicle did stop after the accident and remained on scene.
The injured has not been identified at this time, we do not know the extent of the injuries sustained. The Black Rock Fire Department was also assisted by members of the Lynn Volunteer Fire Department. The injured was flown to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. At 6:58 pm the helicopter lifted from the scene and Black Rock Fire reported to be back in service.
