Dalton Ellison, NW 4th Street in Walnut Ridge was arrested Saturday without incident after fleeing from Walnut Ridge Police on Friday night. Around 8:30 pm the Walnut Ridge Police attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Dalton Ellison for a minor traffic infraction.
Ellison refused to stop and eventually wrecked out in the area of Hwy 67 and the Hwy 34 intersection. Ellison then jumped from the vehicle which was still rolling and fled the scene. The Walnut Ridge Officer in pursuit first had to stop the rolling vehicle before attempting to chase the suspect. Walnut Ridge Police Officers with the assistance of Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and Arkansas State Police then searched the area for the suspect. Thermal Imaging Equipment was brought in from the Walnut Ridge Fire Department to assist in the search.
According to Chief Chris Kirksey, officers searched for quite some time in the area and checked several residences. Chief Kirksey and other officers returned the following morning to the suspects residence where he was taken into custody without incident. Ellison was arrested and charged with Fleeing, Reckless Driving and Driving On Suspended. Ellison is currently in the Lawrence County jail awaiting a bond hearing.
