Lawrence County Deputies are on scene at what is being described as an accidental shooting injuring two people in Powhatan. Black Rock Fire Department and AET Ambulance were dispatched to 53 Lawrence 233 in Powhatan after a 911 call was received reporting the shooting.

Responders arrived on scene to find two victims in a truck, one male and one female both suffering from gunshot wounds. The male was reported to have a wound to the hand and the female was reported to have a wound to the hand and leg. Lawrence County Deputies were dispatched to the scene, Officers from the Arkansas State Parks arrived on scene and secured the weapon which was described as a 40 Caliber hand gun and was still in the vehicle. Investigators with the Lawrence County Criminal investigation Division were notified of the incident.

Both victims were transported to St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro for treatment, their conditions are not known at this time. The investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
