Walnut Ridge Fire Department received an early morning call from the Lawrence County Dispatch on Sunday morning. The page went out at 1:36 am reporting a structure fire on West Hazel. Firefighters were told that ne possible victim was still in the residence, Walnut Ridge responded with multiple trucks and firefighters to the scene along with AET Ambulance and Medic One.
Shortly after arriving on the scene, the call came out on the radio from Walnut Ridge Command that the victim had been rescued from the structure fire. AET Ambulance transported the male victim first to Lawrence Memorial and then transferred to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Sources stated that the victim was not burned but was being treated for smoke inhalation.
Walnut Ridge Firefighters quickly got the blaze under control but remained on scene for quite some time. Mayor Charles Snapp took to social media today praising the Walnut Ridge Fire Department, Walnut Ridge Police Department and medical personnel for their efforts in the Sunday morning fire.
