At 3:40 pm, Lawrence County Dispatch center received a report of a near head on crash , on Highway 63 near the Imboden water tower, between a north bound semi truck and a south bound BNSF railroad truck. A third vehicle also belonging to BNSF was also involved in the accident.

The driver of the north bound semi and the driver of the  south bound BNSF truck were both pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

The occupants of the third vehicle were not injured during the crash.

Imboden Volunteer Fire Department, Walnut Ridge Fire Department, Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department, Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department, Arkansas State Police, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Black Rock Police Department, Ravenden Police Department,  Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services, and AET Ambulance were all at the scene of the accident.

Highway 63 was closed at 3:40 and remains closed at this time due to clean-up. The highway is expected to be closed for several hours and traffic is being re-routed with the assistance of local police and fire departments.

The Arkansas Highway Department is on stand by with truck loads of sand to absorb spilled liquids on the highway.  Dail’s Wrecker Service has several large wreckers on the scene. One of the trucks was hauling large rolls of paper.

The wreck is being investigated by the Arkansas Highway Police, Arkansas State Police, and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.  The name of the victims have not yet been released.
