Due to the cooperation and generosity of the folks at Orscheln’s Farm and Home, the Randolph County Humane Society will be conducting its annual Valentine’s “Love Your Pet†bake sale and photo op fund-raiser in their store this year. Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 14, from 10 am until 2 pm at Orscheln’s on 1966 Highway 62 West at Park Street in Pocahontas.
The event coincides with an Orscheln’s pet products sale as well as numerous pet-related observances, including Pet Theft Awareness Day, Love Your Pet Day, Responsible Pet Owner Month, and most importantly, National Prevent a Litter Month, Spay/Neuter Awareness Month, Spay Day USA and World Spay Day.
Sale plans include a variety of home-made bakery – yeast and quick breads, pastries, cookies, Christine’s famous fried pies – and candy, as well as a few small gift items for your Valentine. NEW THIS YEAR are some choice vintage items, prices based on eBay averages. Photographer Marsha Difani has graciously agreed to provide her services for the event. Photos of you and your pet are $10 each. All purchasers of pet photos will have their name placed in a drawing for a doggie door prize!
Proceeds support RCHS.
REMINDERS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF SPAYING/NEUTERING:Â Pets which may have already been impregnated can still be spayed. It should be done as soon as possible. Pets should be approximately six months old before being spayed or neutered, HOWEVER, in the case of cats, owners should watch them carefully, as many times they can come into heat at a younger age, particularly if there is more than one female cat on the premises.
Pets – especially cats – can reproduce at an alarming rate. Please help control the huge pet over-population problem – have your pets spayed (females) or neutered (males).
