Richard Carr, 53 years old of rural Ravenden was taken into custody shortly after 8 pm Friday and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member, Possession of Firearms by Certain Person, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Meth with intent to distribute and Possession of Marijuana.
The arrest came after a warrant was issued for Carr earlier this week. On Monday night around 9 pm the Lawrence County Dispatch received a call by a victim stating that Carr had went into a rage and discharged a firearm. Dispatchers stayed on the phone with the victim until deputies could reach the residence located on Lawrence 138 near the Sharp County line. As law enforcement approached the residence, the victims fled the house in a vehicle and were met at the Friendship Methodist Church by an AET Ambulance, none of the three family members were injured. Deputies were assisted by the Ravenden Police Department and Arkansas State Police, the units surrounded the house but Carr was not located. The following day the Lawrence County Criminal Investigation Division got a warrant signed for the arrest of Richard Carr. Several attempts were made to capture Carr during the week, Sheriff’s Deputies along with assistance from the Arkansas State Police caught up with the suspect at the residence Friday night.
Richard Carr was arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Jail to await a Bond Hearing, Carr has a lengthy criminal record including a 2003 conviction for Domestic Abuse Battery 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, in 2005 Unlawful Use of a Weapon, several Failure to Appear, a Revocation of Probation, Probation Violation and a Disorderly Conduct charge in May of 2014.
