A winter weather update…
…Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 6 am CST Thursday…
* wind chill values…north winds will be between 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts. This will cause wind chill values to drop from zero to 10 below zero tonight in parts northeast Arkansas…the Missouri bootheel and extreme northwest Tennessee.
* Other impacts..prolonged exposure to cold conditions of this magnitude can result in frostbite and lead to hypothermia. Please plan to limit any outdoor activities through tonight.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors…make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
Above all, be prepared to check on family and neighbors who are especially at risk from cold weather hazards: young children, older adults, and the chronically ill. Make sure they have the supplies, medication, etc.. needed.
If you have pets, bring them inside. If you cannot bring them inside, provide adequate, warm shelter food, and unfrozen water for them to drink.
