During Tuesday’s meeting the Hoxie city government has made the decision to close the dispatch and enter into an agreement with the Lawrence County Dispatch to contract services for the Hoxie Police Department.
The agreement had been discussed in earlier meetings in an attempt to save the city money. According to figures released by Mayor Tinker, the closing of the dispatch center would save the city an estimated $40,000 per year. Mayor Tinker also stated that while revenue in the city had remained the same, the cost of running a separate dispatch was constantly rising.
During a special session held today, Hoxie agreed to pay the Lawrence County Dispatch Center $4,000 per month for their services.
