Joseph Stewart, one of Lawrence County’s Most Wanted was arrested and taken into custody in Craighead County today. Stewart was out on bond for his alleged involvement in an April 2013 Rape case in Walnut Ridge.
In October, Stewart fled from officers after they attempting to make a traffic stop in Hoxie and escaped on foot. Stewart was added to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted list. Tips sent in to the sheriff’s office led officers to an apartment in Brooklyn (Craighead County) where Stewart fled the residence, jumped from a 2nd floor balcony and escaped on foot in November.
Joseph Stewart was transferred to Lawrence County this morning to await a bond hearing for Felony in Possession of a Firearm, those charges are from the October 28th incident. Stewart is also facing charges for poaching violations from the Arkansas Game and Fish from the same incident.
Joseph Stewart was charged in Craighead County for his November escape, he was charged with Fleeing and was issued a citation by the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office.
