Two separate fires early Tuesday were reported in the early hours. The Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department was paged to a house fire on 182 North Allen Street at 3:06 am, initial reports were a water heater caught fire in the home.

The Smithville Volunteer Fire Department was paged at 5:39 am by the Lawrence County Dispatch after receiving a 911 call reporting a barn on fire on Lawrence 267 behind New Hope Baptist Church. Firefighters responding to the blaze stated they could see the fire from far away and requested the assistance of the Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department. Black Rock was paged for assistance. The barn was described as full of hay and completely engulfed upon arrival.

No injuries were reported in either incident, Smithville was on scene until 7:40 am.
