On October 17th, Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Yancy Roe at his residence on Lawrence 2645 in Smithville. While talking to Mr. Roe the deputies noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the suspect.
Roe who is currently on SIS was asked about the smell and also questioned if he had any illegal drugs on his person, the suspect replied yes and produced a bag of marijuana and a smoking pipe from his pockets. Deputies then exercised their right to search the suspect’s house as a condition of his SIS.
Roe told deputies that he had purchased a large amount of marijuana, as deputies entered the house they encountered two large glass jobs on the kitchen counter containing marijuana and another gallon bag upstairs containing marijuana. Roe stated he had purchased $1500.00 in marijuana at what he described as a “good dealâ€.
Deputies also found scales, zip lock baggies, partially smoked marijuana cigarettes and rolling papers inside the residence. Roe was arrested and charged possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Roe is currently in the Lawrence County Jail awaiting a bond hearing and court date.
