Nature Center Open — 1-3:00pm Friday – Monday
Friday Aug. 29
10:00 a.m. – GeoHike
Discover the natural regions of Northeast Arkansas as we walk along the White Oak Trail, one of four hiking trails at Lake Charles State Park. Along the way we will talk about the variety of animal life and the physical features of the landscape. We will talk about the role the lake plays in the region as well as the many opportunities the park offers to visitors.
Saturday Aug. 30
8:00 a.m. – Morning Kayak Tour
Celebrate Independence Day with a boom! Join us as we fire off our Civil War cannon in honor of the holiday. We’ll need some volunteers to help us, so you may even get to be the one to fire the cannon.
Sunday Aug. 31
6:00pm – Evening Barge Tour
Join park staff for a leisurely cruise around the lake on our pontoon. We will embark from the Snapp Fishing Pier in the day-use area and make our way around the lake, visiting some of the coves and watching for the numerous types of wildlife found on and around the water. Space is limited, so sign up early! Please call or stop by the visitor center to sign up or for more information. Sign up will be open until 4:30pm Saturday July 5.
Monday Sep. 1
9:00 a.m. –Kayak Games
Have some fun in the water! Join the park interpreter at the swimming beach for a morning of fun and games. We will have a series of kayak games and races for prizes and bragging rights. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and take photos. Please contact the park or stop by the visitor center for more information or to sign up. You can also sign up at the beach.
