Investigators from the Arkansas State Police have arrested Nyoka Oliphant of Alicia on charges of 2nd Degree Forgery.
The arrest stems from a 2012 case where the victim, Mrs. Terry Baker reported the theft and forgery of two checks on her personal checking account, the total of the two being $250. Baker reportedly question Nyoka Oliphant about the incident and she was told by the suspect that she took the checks to cover a debt for her son. The suspect took the checks to a third party, explained that the banks were closed and traded them for cash. The third party knew both the suspect and victim stated that he did not think it was suspicious, He then took to checks to a Newport back to recover his money.
Once investigators figured out the entire proceedings, the suspect was arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing and court date.
