At 4:28 pm on Friday, the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a structure fire across from the community center in Smithville. Early reports stated the home was fully engulfed, Smithville firefighters responded to the scene.

Imboden and Lynn Fire Departments were paged for mutual aid at the request of the Smithville Fire Department. Both departments responded to the scene on Roosevelt Street in Smithville. One male subject was uninjured but apparently was in the structure at the time of the blaze. AET Ambulance and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were also dispatched to the scene. Firefighters on scene reported the home a total loss but fought to protect out buildings and vehicle parked close to the home. All three departments were on scene until the fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire was unknown, no injuries were reported in the fire.
