On May 22nd the Lawrence County Sheriff’s office was alerted to suspicious activity at the Ole Hickory Motel by a concerned citizen. Lawrence County Deputies along with officers from the Hoxie Police Department responded to the area and observed three females outside, two of which were both on active parole/probation and under the conditions of their release were not supposed to be in each others company. Upon questioning the females and explaining the nature of the call, suspect Jackie Furgeison admitted to officers that she had used illegal drugs (meth) and would fail a test. A second suspect Emily Huff also admitted to officers that she too had used drugs (meth) two days prior.
Consent was given to the officers to search the room, during the search a purse belonging to Huff. Inside the purse officers found pills that the suspect did not have a prescription for. She was arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Jail, the other suspect Jackie Furgeison was arrested for violating conditions of release and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. Once Emily Huff was in jail, a search turned up a baggie of Crystal Meth. Huff had it hidden inside her clothing. Huff was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance without Prescription and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth) The two were held in the Lawrence County Jail until Tuesday for a Bond Hearing.
