Shortly after 3 am, the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a passenger van on fire on Hwy 67 near the Hwy 63 intersection. Walnut Ridge Fire Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and Walnut Ridge Police were all dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters and law enforcement arrived to find the van engulfed in flames. The occupants of the vehicle had gotten out safely. Law enforcement decided to close the highway for safety reasons while several units from the Walnut Ridge Fire Department worked to extinguish the blaze.

Photo compliments of LCSO K-9 Officer Chris Ditto, the highway was reopened once the fire was out and damaged vehicle was removed. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
