On March 21, 2014 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas State Police arrested Darrin (Pinky) Pinkston of Mammoth Springs on charges of forgery and theft of property.
The arrest stems from an extensive investigation by the CID of State Police and the Sheriff’s Office into reports of a large amount of missing money from Higginbotham Funeral Home.
The report states that checks were missing and that contracts were sold for cash and no records were found. Officers found checks that had been cashed by Pinkston. Officers also spoke with clients that had receipts showing were they had purchased contracts with cash at a discounted rate.
The investigation turned up approximately $81,000.00 in loses. The information gathered in the investigation was presented to a judge and warrant was obtained for Pinkston’s arrest.
Pinkston was arrested without incident and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.
