During Sunday’s ice, the Imboden and Ravenden Volunteer Fire Departments were paged to an accident at Hwy 63 and Lawrence 106.
Both fire departments and 3 ambulances responded to the accident with a reported 5 injured. Road conditions were icy and slick according to Asst. Chief Jim Jones. The injured were taken to area hospitals, Dail’s wrecker service removed the vehicle, firefighters had to close one lane of traffic as emergency workers tended to the injured. Traffic was slowed through the area but emergency workers kept it flowing in an effort to avoid other accidents.
Ravenden Police assisted with the accident, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and Arkansas State Troopers were out working accidents during the ice. According to the ambulance crews, Highway 63 between the Rest Area and Lawrence/Sharp County line was icing and becoming impassable.
