At 4:41 pm on Thursday, the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a one vehicle rollover just outside Walnut Ridge on Lawrence 438. The Walnut Ridge Fire Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies, Walnut Ridge Police and medical units were dispatched to the scene.
According to deputies, it appeared the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and overturning before coming to rest. The passenger was able to force himself out of the vehicle but the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Walnut Ridge Fire Department.
The passenger was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle, the driver was flown by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. The accident is being investigated by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, the names of the injured have not been released.
