On May 31, 2013 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Shannon Workman, age 37, of Portia on
charges of Battery in the 2nd degree. The arrest comes from a Portia woman reporting that Workman
had assaulted her on May 24th . The woman reported that she had been picked up and thrown from a
porch where she struck a lawn mower. The woman had damage from the injury and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The information was presented to the District Judge and a warrant was issued. Deputies
arrested Workman without incident and transported him to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond
hearing.
