Portia Woman Arrested on Theft/Forgery Charges

On May 6, 2013 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Natasha Fain (36) of Portia on charges of
theft and forgery. The arrest comes from a Jonesboro man reporting that his checkbook was stolen from
his vehicle while in Portia and that several checks had been forged in Lawrence County. Deputies took
the report of the theft and forgeries and started an investigation. The dollar amount of the checks was
for over $700 with at least 6 checks being written. The owner of the checkbook filled out affidavits of
forgery on the checks. Information gathered during the investigation led deputies to Fain. Fain was
placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.
