Black Rock Man Charged With Cruelty To Animals After Horse Found Dead

On Friday, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a concerned citizen about a horse that was possibly dead and two others that were not being cared for.

Deputies responded to Lawrence 210 in Black Rock and found one horse dead and two others without in food. Deputies began looking into the incident and after a couple of hours made contact with the owner. The owner was cited for cruelty to animals and stated that he could no longer afford to properly care for the animals.

Sheriff Dotson and Lawrence County Judge Dale Freeman made arrangements for the horses to be picked up and taken to a safe location. The owner gave consent for the animals to be removed and cared for.
