Deputies Discover Serious Accident While Patrolling The County
At 5:52 pm on Sunday, a Lawrence County Deputy on routine patrol discovered an overturned vehicle on Evergreen Road. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time it was discovered.
Deputies began to investigate the scene concerned that an injured person or persons may be in need of medical assistance. Deputies contacted the owner of the vehicle, learning that a female had borrowed the vehicle earlier. The deputies contacted the female who told them she was at a residence in Hoxie, at that time the female did not want to be interviewed. Deputies explained that she would have to be interviewed, the female then claimed she was going to go to Lawrence Memorial claiming injury.
Deputies responded to Lawrence Memorial Hospital when they met the female suspect, after interview the suspect was charged with DWI, Leaving The Scene of An Accident, Refusal To Submit To A Drug/Alcohol Test, Failure To Maintain Control and Driving On Suspended.
Deputies also noted that not only was there substantial damage to the vehicle but the retaining wall around the culvert was also damaged and would need repair. Sheriff Dotson has not released the name of the suspect, it is not clear if the victim had injuries or the extent of the injuries.
