Williams to Celebrate Black History Month
(Walnut Ridge, Ark.) – Williams Baptist College has several events scheduled for the month of February in honor of Black History Month. Activities will kick off Monday, Feb. 4, in the Eagle Coffeehouse & Grill, located in the Mabee Student Center, with a 9:30 p.m. viewing of the movie The Help.
The public is invited to a free concert in Manley Chapel on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The KIPP Blytheville College Preparatory School Choir from Blytheville, Ark., and the KIPP Delta Collegiate High School Choir from Helena-West Helena, Ark., will perform. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m.
Black History Month activities will conclude on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Mabee-Gwinup Cafeteria will serve soul food, and later that night students can participate in a poetry slam and jam in the Eagle Coffeehouse & Grill. Current and former WBC students will honor Black history creatively through spoken word, skits, artwork and various other outlets. The open-mic night begins at 6:30 p.m.
Stolz Joins Williams PR Office
(Walnut Ridge, Ark.) – Williams Baptist College has announced that Grace Stolz is the school’s new coordinator of public relations. Stolz, a 2012 WBC graduate, recently began work handling a variety of publicity and marketing tasks for the college.
“Grace is a great writer and natural communicator, and we are very pleased to have her using those skills to tell the story of Williams Baptist College. She also believes passionately in the mission of WBC, giving her an ideal perspective for this job,” said Brett Cooper, WBC’s vice president for institutional advancement.
Cooper said the new PR coordinator will work in several areas of communication at Williams, including new releases, the WBC website and social media, as well as the layout and design of college publications.
Stolz had been serving as assistant to the campus ministries director at Williams.
She is a native of Yellville, Ark., and a graduate of Yellville-Summit High School. She is the daughter of Danny & Jimmie Sue Gilley of Yellville. She is married to Shane Stolz, who is sports information director and head coach of men’s and women’s soccer at Williams.
Williams is a four-year, liberal arts college at Walnut Ridge.
