Investigators from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office charged Crystal Land of Hoxie with Felony Theft of Property.
Land was interviewed in connection with allegations claiming that several residents had money stolen from them. Land worked for Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab, her duties included shopping for residents. Land admitted to spending money that belonged to residents, shopping at Walmart, Cato’s and paying some of her own bills with stolen funds. Land also admitted to investigators that she intentionally did not turn in receipts so the purchases could not be traced back to her.
In addition to spending money that belonged to residents, Land admitted to buying two televisions and returning one for a cash refund. Land also admitted to taking cash from the petty cash box and purchasing four Browning coats. In an interview with investigators, Land admitted to taking funds a couple times a week.
