On January 28, 2013 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hershel Hawkins (05/01/65) of Horseshoe Bay, TX and Bobby Nichols (01/16/51) of Austin, Texas on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (meth ice) and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest came after a deputy stopped the vehicle they were in for following to close and window tint violation near Hoxie.
The deputy noticed the men acting nervous and shaking as he spoke with them. The deputy asked the men if they had any illegal substances in the vehicle and was given consent to look in the vehicle. Inside the vehicle the deputy found several bags of meth ice weighing about 117 grams and a glass pipe with meth ice in it. The deputy placed both subjects under arrest. On the sally port at the jail, Hawkins told the deputy that he had meth ice in his shorts. A few more bags of ice were discovered weighing close to 10 grams.
Both subjects are in the Lawrence County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
