On January 11, 2013, the Ravenden Police Department received information from the 3rd Judicial District Drug Task Force, that a Michael Oneal, age 43, of Jonesboro, might pass through Ravenden, and he would possibly have a large amount of drugs in his vehicle. The police department ran a check on Mr. Oneal, and discovered that he had a suspended driver’s license, and he was wanted out of the Ravenden Police Department, and other agencies in Lawrence County. Sgt. John Keding, with the Ravenden Police Department, set up on US Highway 63, and observed Mr. Oneal traveling south bound. Sgt. Keding conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and took Mr. Oneal into custody on the outstanding warrants. Chief McComas deployed the police department K-9 “Scooby” on the vehicle, and the K-9 alerted on the vehicle. A search was conducted on the vehicle, and a large amount of methamphetamine was discovered inside the vehicle.
Mr. Oneal was transported to the Lawrence County Jail, where he was charged with:
Possession of Methamphetamine with purpose to deliver, a class A felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class B felony
Driving on Suspended Driver’s License
Failure to Appear Warrants
Mr. Oneal appeared before the Honorable Judge Jason Marshall, and his bond was set at $25,000.00 Cash.
