On October 19, 2012 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sherry Rutherford (33) of Powhatan for residential burglary, theft of property and criminal trespass. The arrest stems from a burglary on County Road 247 where several hundred dollars worth of tools was stolen earlier in the month. Deputies took the report and began the investigation. A check of local pawn shops turned up several of the tools from the burglary. The pawn records showed that Sherry Rutherford had been the one that had pawned the items. Deputies also learned that Rutherford was familiar with the residence. The information was presented to a judge and a warrant was issued. Deputies found Rutherford, placed her under arrest and transported her to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.
