Lake Charles State Park would like to thank our sponsors for helping to make the 5TH Annual Living History at the Lake a success even in the rain!
This year’s event was sponsored by The Bank of Cave City in Lynn, Jonesboro Tractor Sales, Farm Service of Hoxie, First National Bank of Walnut Ridge, Regions Bank of
Walnut Ridge, Lake Charles Suites, Heritage Agriculture of Walnut Ridge, Ashlock Tire Service, Ronnie Light Equipment, Barton’s of Walnut Ridge, Aaron’s of Walnut Ridge, and Wal-Mart.
Reenactors and Living Historians from all over Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Mississippi gathered at the park to honor our veterans and to teach local school kids
and the public about life as a soldier. On Friday, over 350 students attended 7 sessions on topics ranging from Civil War Medicine to decoding secret messages. On Saturday
the encampments were open to the public. Though it lightly rained most of the day, many people came out to see the displays, hear the Mid-South Navy bands perform
period music, and witness the 2nd Marine Reenactors storm the swim beach during the reenactment of the Makin Atoll Assault in the Pacific. Overall the weekend was a
success and plans are already being made for next year!
