The Lawrence County and Pocahontas Dive Teams traveled to Jackson County to assist with the search for a missing Newark man on Friday.
The teams used sonar to identify potential targets for searches in the area that the man went missing. Divers from Independence County were on scene Thursday and Lawrence County was placed on standby, Friday the team was cycled in to help with the search.
Sonar indicated two possible targets around noon on Friday, divers entered the water and had brief contact with what is believed to be victim before the current moved the subject down stream. Divers searched the area thoroughly but were unable to relocate.
Independence County, Jackson County and Jacksonport VFD also had boats in the water assisting in the search. Crews from Pocahontas and Lawrence County will resume their search on Friday.
