On July 17, 2012 at around 1 pm the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michael Barnard (03/09/72) of Annieville for manufacture of a controlled substance (marijuana). The arrest came after deputies received information that Barnard was growing marijuana at his residence on County Road 224 near Annieville. Deputies went to the residence and Barnard asked why they were there. The deputies told Barnard “you know why we are here” and Bernard replied “the pot plants”. Bernard then showed the deputies some marijuana plants that were about 4 feet tall. Deputies took pictures of the plants and Bernard was placed under arrest. The plants were taken into evidence and Bernard was transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing. Bernard told deputies that he was raising the plants for himself because marijuana had become so expensive.
