Lawrence County Deputies, Walnut Ridge Police, Fire Departments and ambulance services have been very busy in the recent heat.

Deputies from Lawrence County conducted several welfare checks on individuals after concerned callers contacted the Lawrence County Dispatch.

Fire departments from across the county battled several wild land fires over the weekend. Imboden and Ravenden responded to a brush fire on Sunday, firefighters were able to put the fire out, but still requested the Arkansas Forestry to respond and plow a fire break around the area.

Imboden and Ravenden were not alone in fighting fires, Hoxie, Walnut Ridge, Strawberry and others had brush fires to deal with. Lynn Fire Department was called out on several fires including one on Sunday located on Lawrence 277. The 911 caller reported hay bales on fire, the heat from the hay fire was reported to be so hot, it was melting siding on a residence neat the  fire. Lynn responded with several trucks and firefighters to the scene.

Fire was not the only emergency due to the heat, the Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department responded to a medical call on Hwy 90 in Ravenden where a male subject living without air conditioning was reported to be unresponsive, the victim was rushed to Lawrence Memorial by AET Ambulance of Imboden.

Units from the Walnut Ridge Police Department were also dispatched to the city park to check on an elderly female.

Police, Fire and Emergency Personnel are dealing with temperatures in Lawrence County being over 100 degrees for several days straight, no rain in sight, no end to the heat in the immediate forecast.

A reminder that Lawrence County still remains under a Burn Ban and Fireworks Ban put in place by Lawrence County Judge Dale Freeman.
