Shortly after 8 am a Semi Truck attempting to enter Hwy 63 from North Carolina Street caused heavy damage to the utility pole, causing some residents and businesses to lose power.

 

Lawrence County Deputies were assisted by Ravenden Police with traffic while workers from Entergy moved equipment into place to begin to repair the damaged pole and lines.

 

Several businesses in town effected by the outage had generators in place in order to continue business. At 1 pm Entergy cut the remaining power to Imboden to begin the repairs.

 

Some businesses in town were forced to close when Entergy cut the remaining power to the town. The Imboden Area Charter School released students around 2 pm and the Bobbie Jean Memorial Library closed around 1 pm.

 

Deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office stated the semi truck that caused the damage was stopped around the Portia area by Arkansas Highway Police. The driver was cited by both the Arkansas Highway Police and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office for various offenses.

 

Power was restored to the area at 3:58 pm.
