Lawrence County is under a “Flash Flood Warning” until late Monday evening. An upper level disturbance has stalled in our area dumping large amounts of rainfall with a cold front right behind the system.

Low-water bridges in the area are already under water and some county roads in the southern part of the county are covered as well.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office advises that motorist not attempt to drive through any water in the roadways. Unlike the local flooding in mid November, the soil is saturated and will not be able to absorb water, so any additional rainfall will cause fast rising water in our area.

In the Imboden area, Lawrence 201 and 203 have bridges that are covered and dangerous to cross. Once again, Sheriff Dotson and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office advise motorist not to attempt to travel through any water covering any roadway.

The Arkansas State Highway Department has a Toll Free number you can call for the latest roadway information on weather related road conditions, the number is (800) 245-1672 .
