During last weeks City Council meeting, members learned that according to the 2010 Census Imboden was classified as a 2nd class city, meaning that voting for aldermen could change. If changed the city would be divided into wards, each ward would elect an alderman from that ward. Currently the alderman are selected by at-large voting.
The City Council has applied to the Secretary of States Office requesting that Imboden be reclassified back to an Incorporated Town status. If the request is granted, aldermen will continue to be elected in the current format, if not candidates must vie for positions within their specific ward and if elected would serve that ward.
