A 57 year old man living in Pocahontas was arrested in a nationwide sweep by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The illegal immigrant arrested in Pocahontas was found to be a convicted sex offender, convicted of 2nd degree sexual assault against a minor. The male suspect was from Mexico, living in Pocahontas illegally.

The operation conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was a nationwide seven day event enforcement operation targeting illegal immigrates with criminal convictions across the country.

The suspect arrested in Pocahontas was one of 2903 arrested in the operation by agents from the New Orleans field office of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Officials also stated that 24 other arrest were made in Arkansas in the enforcement operation. The name of the suspect arrested in Pocahontas has not been released at this time.
