A two vehicle accident just after 10am on Friday has left one dead and injured two. The accident occurred on Hwy 412 between Walnut Ridge and Portia
29 year old Nathan Richey of Black Rock and 47 year old Charles Meeks of Atkins were traveling west bound in a Red 1996 Dodge Pickup and Richey, the driver of the Dodge pickup attempted to pass other traffic when his truck collided with a 2003 Toyota car driver by 28 year old Matthew Mullen of Portia, Mullen was killed in the accident. All three victims were transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Mullen was later pronounced dead.
The Arkansas State Police was assisted by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Walnut Ridge Police Department, Portia Police Department, Walnut Ridge Fire Department and AET Ambulance. Hwy 412 was closed for over an hour before being reopened. The accident was investigated by Corporal Phillip Roark of the Arkansas State Police Troop B.
