At 8:06pm on Friday the Lawrence County Dispatch Center received a call from the Rest Area on Hwy 63 from a Grandparent that her 18yr old mentally challenged grand daughter had ran off into the woods at the Rest Area.
The female was last seen wearing a black jersey and blue jean shorts. Deputies responded to the scene and began searching the area. The Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department, Imboden Volunteer Fire Department, Black Rock Police Department, Arkansas State Police and AET of Imboden also responded to the area to assist.
Search dogs were also requested by officers with darkness approaching. Units on scene were walking in the woods and traveling the county roads in an effort to locate the female.
At 8:30pm Imboden Asst. Fire Chief Jim Jones notified Lawrence County Deputies that he had located her on the bridge on Hwy63 just south of the Rest Area. Worried that she may in danger of oncoming traffic, Lawrence County Deputies assisted Jones on the busy highway. The female was returned to her grandparents, no injuries were reported.
