Suspended Pocahontas Police Chief Chad Mulligan, who was suspended in May has been fired by the Pocahontas City Council according to statements released by Mayor Frank Bigger.
Mulligan was suspended after an FBI investigation in May that resulted in one arrest of a subject who’s name has still not been released. Mulligan was suspended with pay in May following a drug investigation by the FBI according to statements released earlier by city officials. The Mayor and Council claimed the results of investigation may have a negative effect on the city and therefore took action, resulting in the termination of Chad Mulligan.
Mulligan has the right to appeal the decision and has not been charged with anything during the investigation which is still on going. Cecil Tackett is Acting Chief Of Police and has been in that position since Mulligan was suspended in May 2011.
