Two seperate incidents is Lawrence County on Saturday involved riders from the NEA Biker Classic 2011. The Biker Classic is a three day event that benefits local charities
At 12:25pm on Saturday the Smithville Volunteer Fire Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and AET Ambulance of Imboden were dispatched to Lawrence County Road 274 and Hwy 115, the scene of a motorcycle accident. AET called for Air-Evac to transport the injured rider.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted the Fire Department and AET by setting up a landing zone at the intersection of Hwy 115 and Hwy117. At 1:18pm Air-Evac landed and transported the injured biker to a hospital. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and Smithville Fire Department were back in service at 1:30pm.
At 12:30pm the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department was called to the Sloan Hendrix Gym for another injured rider, Imboden Fire Chief Chris Jones described the parking lot of the gym to have “about 500 motorcycles in the parking lot”. Paramedic Joe Chappell assisted Chirf Jones and the Imboden Fire Department with the injured rider, the rider was not transported by ambulance but was treated on scene.
