Jan.10th 2011 the Imboden City Council held it’s regular meeting at the Imboden Fire Department. All Council members, Mayor Gene Dearen and Recorder/Treasurer Rebecca Jones were in attendance for the meeting which included the swearing in of all members by Mayor Gene Dearen.
During the January meeting, which included the discussion of the 2011 budget, also included the upcoming projects for the city. Terry Smith of the Water Department gave estimates on upcoming expenses for the water department along with his projected budget for the department. Chris Jones also gave a list of drainage improvement work that has been completed by the street department along with updates on future street repairs within the city that will be funded by the recent sales tax.
Also Jones stated that during the upcoming February meeting he hopes to discuss replacing a fire engine in the near future that will also be funded by the recent tax. Imboden has two engines in it’s fleet that are both 30 years old. Members of the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department recently met and discussed replacing the truck and are now in the process of exploring it’s options.
Replacing the truck is a needed improvement to the fire department which was recently awarded it’s Class 4 ISO rating. The lowering of the rating has saved residents and businesses on insurance cost.
