Captain Jody Dotson of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office reports that on September 18th the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and the 3rd Judicial Drug Task Force arrested Jacob Gokey of Black Rock for possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture meth.
Captain Dotson reports that the arrest came after a deputy who was patrolling the Black Rock Area noticed a man lurking around an out building of a residence. The deputy stopped to check the residence and speak with the man. The man told the deputy that he was at the residence to drink a beer with the residence owner, the deputy the went and confirmed the story with the residence owner, Gokey, who also stated he was there to drink a beer. While speaking with Gokey the deputy noticed a strong odor and smoke coming from a bag. The deputy ask Gokey about the bag and Gokey began to cry and told the deputy it was a meth lab and that he was cooking meth.
The drug task force was contacted to help process the lab and a chem team from Memphis also assisted in the clean up.
Gokey was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond which was held Monday with bond being set at $20,000.00 and a Circuit Court date of October 12th was given.
